I'm fairly new to slight of hand and card magic. I've only been doing it for the past 3 years. So my experience and knowledge is limited. In those past 3 years I've read countless books and have bought an obscene amount of DVDs and tutorials. And through all of them I've never learned as much or had as much FUN as I did with the Search & Destroy DVD.

The DVD explains the entire routine in detail, and hits on key points and things to watch for. After a few times running through the DVD and a little practice I was ready to show this. When I did, I floored my family. They couldn't believe how amazing the effect was. And it is amazing! Not only in the effect but in the execution! It's so simple!

The added humor and stories that are intermingled around the trick also add a lot to the DVD and Aaron's humor and wit are sure to keep you interested and holding your sides with laughter.

Fact of the matter is, if you want a great effect, have fun learning, AND pick up other lessons that will improve your overall craft. Buy this DVD. Best money you'll ever spend. Period.

Why are you still reading this? GO BUY IT! Then enjoy the expressions of shock and amazement as you perform one of the greatest and most effective effects card magic has to offer.

I love everyone's replies to the, it means you're doing "something."

I can't agree more. I think overall, the pass is something that shouldn't be seen, but most people learning it, focus on the techincal and not your own body work.

Your pass could be flawless, but if you're "framing up," it just looks suspicious, therefore defeating the purpose all together.

Great tip.

This four minutes (or so) of advice on the pass, is better than anything I've read so far about the illusive move. (I'm not exaggerating)

I've been doing card magic as a hobby for the better part of 15 years. I consider myself an intermediate hobbyist - as I do not plan on making my living with magic. It's more or less for my own enjoyment.

I love how you point out learning the wrong things and having them ingrained into your fingers. I wish I would have heard this BEFORE I started to learn the pass, spending more than the better part of THREE YEARS learning it BACKWARDS. I am almost too embarrassed to admit to it, but at the same time, I feel as if I can confide this within a magic community. (I'm sure you can imagine my frustration)

After realizing my mistake, I kind of gave up on the idea of learning the pass. Plus, at the time, I was working in an environment that allowed me the free time to have a deck of cards in my hands for 12 hours a day. That was about ten years ago.

Now after seeing your videos, it has lit another spark inside of me that I felt years back when I first fell in love with magic. I went ahead and purchased "The Paper Engine," to get myself back into the mindset of card magic and the dedication it requires. I don't think people really know what it takes to learn this move. I don't see ten years as an obstacle, but more of a stepping stone into your whole repertoire of sleight of hand skills. It comes with the territory, and I enjoy every moment of it.

Thank you Aaron.

Abdul,
That is a very good question. personaly I think you should look up to people who perform magic well. If you have an inspiriation, thats great. My inspiriations are Aaron Fisher, Lee Asher, Wayne Houchin and of course my private teacher Steve Johnson. I highly reccommend you to go to his magic shop. If you want to educate yourself in the world of magic, I suggest you learn as much as you can.

Dear Mr. Fisher,

Lots of great tips in this podcast. Thanks!

Although I understand the point about practicing at home I rarely get to practice there; Wife has things for me to do or kids want my attention, etc.

I leave home in order to practice. I work basic techniques at a movie theater or waiting in line for anything. For routines I have to visit the local coffee shop and practice there.

Wish I had time at home:)

Sincerely,

Randy

My card handling has changed ever since I was exposed to you and your work at Theory11. I agree with Genii about your teaching style being relaxed and amusing. I go a bit further and suggest that it is accessible as well.

Your short courses at Theory 11 have really changed how I handle cards. I've more or less trusted you and your lessons and my confidence and card handling have improved dramatically.

So, I was excited to receive "Search and Destroy" and was happy that it followed suit with your other lessons.

Passes have always frightened me. I flash like a pack of paparazzi who suddenly find Angelina Jolie sleep walking nude on Hollywood Blvd.

The No Where pass and your instruction have given me hope.

I'm gun shy, in general, when it comes to purchasing magic to study. I am often disappointed by some crummy gimmick or another. What I enjoy most about the way you teach is you show magic as a journey in and of itself, no some double-sided tape road to stardom.

You always leave me feeling confident that one day I will be able to truly astound others with just a deck and my hands. You're handling of a pass I have always been afraid of and therefore have never given myself the chance to learn is worth ten times the price of the DVD
"Search and Destroy" is a terrific DVD. It is a terrific effect.

I highly recommend getting it.
